Teacher Fired for Giving Failing Grade to Student’s Service Dog

I mean, what kind of teacher doesn’t give an A+ to a dog that’s just trying its best?

Local student

ROCKFORD, IL — In a shocking display of animal discrimination, a teacher has been fired for giving a failing grade to a student’s service dog. The incident occurred at a local high school, where the dog had been accompanying its owner to class for months.

Doggedly Pursuing Education

The service dog, a 3-year-old Labrador Retriever named Max, had been trained to assist the student with a disability, but according to witnesses, the teacher had become increasingly frustrated with Max’s “lack of participation” and “general apathy towards the subject matter.” Despite the student’s protests that Max was doing the best he could, the teacher remained unmoved.

Outrage in the Community

News of the incident has sparked outrage among animal lovers and disability rights advocates alike. Many are calling for the teacher to be held accountable for their actions and for schools to provide more training on working with service animals.

“Why would a teacher fail a student’s service dog simply because they don’t understand the material,” said a spokesperson for a local animal rights group. “We demand justice for Max, who has a learning disability of their own, and for all service animals who are unfairly discriminated against in the classroom.”

A Woofing Good Solution

In response to the incident, the school district has issued a statement affirming their commitment to accommodating service animals in the classroom. “We understand the important role that service animals play in the lives of students with disabilities, and we want to ensure that all of our teachers are equipped to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for these animals,” the statement reads.

In the meantime, Max and his owner have been reassigned to a new teacher who has reportedly been much more accommodating. Max has also been given extra treats and belly rubs as a token of appreciation for his hard work and dedication.
