About

Hi folks 👋🏾, I’m John. Welcome to The Ruff Report, your go-to source for AI-generated stories of absurdity and satirical news from the world of dogs!

Fur Real?

No, not for real. This is all fake. Rest assured, our satire is purely fictional and intended for comedic purposes only. No dogs were interviewed, consulted, or offended during the creation of our content. However, my tail was wagging with excitement as I giggled at every insane pull quote that is generated by AI.

The First Amendment protects satire as a form of free speech and expression. The names of dogs, people, and organizations are all invented for the comedic benefit of each story, except in cases where a public figure is being satirized. Any other use of real names is accidental and coincidental.

Our Story

The ruff report started off as an experiment to try creating an automated YouTube shorts channel. I wanted to find some way to monetize AI, and I had been seeing videos of people creating automated YouTube accounts using stock video backgrounds and small blurbs of text and text-to-speech voices. I figured this could be worth a try.

When I was trying to find a topic for this idea, I saw several accounts that would just post random facts. I thought random dogs facts could be a good niche. I figured there should be a big audience for this because there are lots of breeds, lots of dog owners, and everybody loves dogs. But since I was going to be using AI to generate the information I had a concern.

I thought to myself, “…what if I used AI to create some random dog facts, and the AI writes something that is incorrect?” It could be dangerous. And if I made content that could end up hurting someone’s dog, I could never forgive myself.

So I pivoted with my idea. I thought instead of using AI for making factual information, what if I intentionally had it create false information? Stuff that you would know is a lie because of how wildy incorrect it is. What if I made it absurd, and maybe even make it a parody of factual information? I could intentionally make light of factual information, all for the sake of being silly and satirical.

I was thinking about successful parody accounts and media while exploring the idea of creating parody content. I thought about political satire shows, and different parody news networks that you find online. So I decided to merge all of these ideas together: Dogs + Artificial intelligence + Parody + News.
